Forklift Equipment

Forklifts are indispensable for lifting and moving large objects.  That is why it is important to always make sure that the parts and equipment for your forklift are up to par.  If you need to update or replace some of your forklift’s parts, browse through your forklift equipment options and see what part is right for your needs.

Forklift equipment comes new, used, or refurbished.  Although it is almost always a good idea to purchase new equipment or accessories to ensure the life line of the product, used forklift equipment will obviously be cheaper. Often a warrantee will accompany a product when purchased new. This is better for the simple fact that incidents happen and parts can repeatedly break from the wear and tear of every day tasks completed by the use of the machine. Newer parts will often be updated according to "new and improved" designs that can ensure better durability of a product; therefore it is often a better idea to purchase new parts as opposed to used. However, if you are trying to save money, used parts can be just as good. Talk to your local forklift dealer about their used equipment.

The following are some of the most common types of forklift equipment and parts:

  • Steer axles
  • Lift cylinders
  • Engine heads
  • Hydraulic pumps
  • Steering pumps
  • LP gas parts
  • Steering sectors
  • Drive axles
  • Differentials

Forklift parts and equipment need to be in good working condition in order safely operate a forklift.  One important tip that can save you money: you don’t have to buy parts and equipment for your forklift from the manufacturer or dealer, despite what they might tell you.  It will be cheaper to buy forklift equipment from forklift traders or salvage companies.  Wherever you decide to buy your fork lift equipment, make sure that it is reliable and safe.

When purchasing used equipment and accessories, take the following 5 precautions:

  1. Check all bolts and screws to make sure they are secure.
  2. Unwanted dents and other abrasions to equipment can affect the way your machinery runs. Be sure to look over each piece of equipment closely for any dents or other distortions.
  3. Make sure all wires are in place and that there are no flat spots.
  4. Look for rust and any abnormal looking wear and tear.
  5. If possible, compare to any "newer" parts or accessories to make sure there are no major differences.
